Keith Girls and coaches pose for a Central Regional Championship photo

Both Greensboro and Keith represented the Blackbelt in Birmingham’s Final Four.

Next week, it’s game time for the Greensboro Raiders Girls and Boys as well as Keith High School Girls.

On February 22, these Blackbelt Schools participated in the Central Regional Title at Alabama State University in Montgomery.

Greensboro Raiders Girls, led by Coach Frances Dunn and Assistant Coach Hinton, squeezed by Sispey Valley, 45-41. The Lady Raiders have "unfinished business" in Birmingham, after falling last year to Deshler in the Semi-Finals. The Lady Raiders finished strong and prepared for next week’s game.

The Lady Raiders will move forward to Birmingham on Feb 27th at 6:00pm against Madison Academy.

RC Hatch Bobcats took a loss against Keith High School’s Lady Bears led By RC Hatch graduate, Cecil Williams. Williams was asked about beating his High School Alma Mater to which he exclaimed it was, “(The) best feeling ever, I don’t ever want to lose to my home school, that loss would hurt me more than anything.” The Lady Bears haven’t been to Birmingham since 2016 after a 2015 Championship win. The Lady Bears go to Birmingham to play against Sand Rock on February 26th at 6pm.

Greensboro beat Holt by 20 points.

Greensboro Raiders Boys, coached by Barry Williams Jr., took the win over Holt in a great game of sports. The Raiders came to play in the Acadome and displayed leadership throughout the game. The Boys haven’t won a championship since 2011 and hope their appearance against Madison Academy, on Tuesday Feb 27th at 7:30pm, will lead them closer to a championship win.
