Hale County Board Meeting Review

Hale County's Board of Education held its monthly board meeting tonight at Greensboro High School. The meeting started with a work session including school administrators presenting their plans related to being on the failing school list.

Greensboro High School students presented the #urkeys2drv program, which is a program where board members had hands-on presentations with driving simulations where teens face real-time distractions and even experience the effects of being under the influence by wearing special goggles (Dexter won lol). Excellent job students! Also, Hale County High Students requested a change of venue for the 2018 prom which was tabled, no date was given, but one explanation from the board and super was the concern for safety.

Mr. Ward, the board's attorney, presented the timeline for the search for a new superintendent as Ms. Pickens is retiring. For the system, the search will begin March 8th. They also voted on a starting salary of $101,000 per year. Good luck!

The board approved several field trips and Ms. Pickens presented her Superintendent's report which can be found on my live videos, but the conclusion is in the video below. The board will have two community meetings regarding the failing school list and report cards at Greensboro High on February 13th and Hale County on February 15th. Check out The Greensboro Watchman and Moundville Times for full reports of both the work session and meeting-- both were present.
